Welcome to our latest Gatehouse Home Tour, #GHModernMuse. Today we are diving into the heart of this beautiful home – The Great Room.
Our clients use this space more than any other room in their house and they were ready for a major refresh. They wanted it to have a luxe feel with elements of glam but still have a cozy, warm and inviting space for everyone to gather. Our design team set out to find pieces that were both beautiful and comfortable and durable. They started with an extra long four cushion sofa in a subtle herringbone pattern in a natural toned Crypton performance fabric, a pair of oversized chaises in a mink brown chenille and a pair of cozy boucle swivel chairs placed in a U shape around the center of the room. Next our client had a wonderful trim idea to add a nice detail behind their large flat screen TV, the designers suggested they take the trim all the way up to emphasize the grand high ceilings and had the wall painted Stone Hearth for a beautiful tonal color to add depth to the inset accent wall. Our design team then came up with a way to flank the TV with a pair of their favorite chests, tall arched brass mirrors and a shimmering hanging pendant to add a dramatic feature and add elegance to this media wall. New carpet, layered with a dark moody rig to ground the space and furniture, a sofa back table, end table with an earthy white pottery lamp and a new marble fireplace gave a whole new updated look to this 18 year old home. We love how it turned out with so many pretty details, but still feels comfy and cozy for their whole family to hang out, watch football games or movies and just relax and be together.
**Add Personality with Intentional Accessories:**
It’s all about the right styling in a room like this. You don’t want it to feel clutter with too much, but adding a few oversized and intentional pieces that resonate with the homeowners personal style, makes the space feel more complete and like home for our clients. Our design team layered in several unique accent items, an amazing statement art piece above the fireplace with a cluster of our flameless candles SHOP CANDLES HERE atop a collection of acrylic and marble candle holders of varying heights and sizes we brought in even more textiles and comfort to the room with pillows SHOP HERE and throw blankets SHOP HERE for more texture, color and patterns, and faux greenery and floral stems to add warmth, life, and visual interest to the space using our Lilac Cream Sprays SHOP HERE, & our favorite Moss Hanging Vine SHOP HERE.
